 In many ways it had all the elements of a typical New York City Saturday night soiree: a plethora of food, drinks, music, and people. Yet it became readily apparent that this was not just another typical social outing. It was a unique gathering of folks who shared a common thread and experience - InterVarsity.
Some may have called it a quasi-reunion of sorts especially since there were people from all over the tri-state area representing a myriad of schools such as CUNY, NYU, Harvard, Duke, and Binghamton. As I traversed the crowds, I saw exuberant displays of excitement of those who stumbled across unexpected old friends and classmates … the milieu of nostalgia filled the moment. I also saw seeming groups of strangers come together with remarkable ease as they shared about their involvement with this unique college ministry that impacted their lives. It was a synergistic display of people connecting with people.
 Over a hundred people came in and out that cool winter night to a warm, generous apartment on Madison Avenue. At first I doubted the feasibility of holding a large event in a New York City apartment - somehow, it worked. Graduates from the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s (sounds like a radio station) convened and yes - even got along! Webs of connections were made that night. Some redrawn along the same lines, and some drawn completely anew.
