SERVE

Here are ways you can get involved:

  • Occasional (1-2 days every few months)
The lowest amount of hour commitment for volunteers is occasional. This is specific project, event, or conference work. There is often a community element involved. Examples include:
    • Helping with freshmen dorm ‘move in’
    • Creating welcome kits for new students
    • Working with a New Student Outreach event (like an ice cream social)
    • Hosting a meal or event
    • Speaking on campus
    • Coordinating NYCUP students on a service project
    • Attending a conference as a work crew, volunteer staff, or transportation captain

To get involved, sign up with the New York City Office. (Please keep this contact information current.) We will contact you via email for opportunities.

  • Campus Support (3-5 hours a week)
A more involved opportunity for volunteers to be regularly adding value to campus ministry in NYC. Usually this involves a small group of students and relationship with a staff or campus affiliate. Examples include:
    • Leading a GIG
    • Leading a small group
    • Leading a group of students in evangelism
    • Helping a staff or campus affiliate teach a curriculum

The process to be involved at this level is to 1)communicate your number of hours and your campus of innterest to the NYC office; 2) To fill out a basic application; 3) Return 2 references; 4) Meet with the campus staff / campus affiliate for the campus.

  • Campus Affiliate (10 – 15 hours per week) The most involved volunteer opportunity is the campus affiliate role. These volunteers perform the responsibilities of a part-time staff in the campus and on the development of chapter leaders. InterVarsity (or comparable) leadership experience is required. Examples include:

    Ho Tay Ma (NYU MEF)
    Ashley Jung (NYU AACF)
    Dr. Mildred Clarke (Brooklyn College)

The process to be involved is to 1)Fill out the campus affiliate application; 2)Obtain an iInterview with the Area Director; and 3) return all references & background check to the New York Office.

  • Volunteer with the Alumni Network
The alumni network is always in need of volunteers. You have the opportunity to help out on events, coordinate projects, PR/market the alumni network, writing, photography, graphic design or finding ways to reach out and serve your fellow alumni. To get involved, email the Alumni Network at alumni@ivcfnyc.org.
