| Here's a look at God working on campus ... |
Students from New York City, Long Island and New Jersey gather each fall at Young Life's Lake Champion for The Big Event. It serves as a chapter retreat as well as an opportunity for outreach to new students and friends who are seekers. A group of alumni also joined us at The Big Event and served on the Work Crew for the weekend. They worked hard, but also had the opporunity to join the students for the times of worship.
Anna Lee (staff at NYU) was speaking to Kenny at The Big Event. Kenny is a freshman who was not yet a Christian. This is how the conversation unfolded:
 Anna: Hey Kenny! How’s the retreat going for you?
Kenny: Well, actually kinda weird ...
Anna (disappointed): Oh, well how's it weird for you?
Kenny: Well, I think God is speaking to me.
Anna (falling off her chair): How do you know that?
Kenny: Every time the speaker says stuff or we sing to God, I get this weird tingly feeling inside ... And I don't think it's me.
Anna (jumping up and down inside): Well, what do you think He's saying to you?
Kenny: I'm not sure, but I think he wants a relationship with me. But I don't know what that means. Can you tell me what that means?
Anna (repenting for her unbelief): Actually, yeah, I can do that.
Kenny decided to give his life to Christ after The Big Event. Another freshman named John entered the Kingdom at the same time. God is working in the lives of students at NYU and across the city.
